My Philosophy in Teaching
The role of a teacher is to help students realize their own potential and instill in them a love of learning. The impact of a teacher travels outside of what is seen in the classroom because the students, whose lives we are shaping, will develop into powerful individuals that will, in turn, shape the lives of many more.
In my classroom, teachers are also learners and learners are also teachers. We all grow together. The background knowledge and experiences that my students bring into the classroom are valuable to us all, and they serve as useful tools for me to create relatable lessons. Learning is not the same across all students because we all learn through different instructional methods, and the connections we make during our learning depend on our past experiences. Therefore, a personal relationship with my students is an essential ingredient of creating lessons that are meaningful to each of them and developing a classroom environment that is comfortable for them.
Through these relationships I also hope that I am able to communicate to my students that, above all else, I care about them as individuals and acknowledge the ways they are unique. The wellbeing of my students is my top priority and that includes making sure they have a healthy self-image and a positive view of the way everyone in my classroom is different. I hope my love for my students will inspire them to love others.
