Fieldwork with Kindergarten

This semester (Fall of Junior year) was my first time doing fieldwork in an elementary school classroom! I was placed at Lynn Road elementary school in Kindergarten and absolutely loved it. I went in once a week for 3 hours the whole semester as well as spent 2 full weeks of the semester in the classroom. My job was to observe the teacher and help out in any way I could. This consisted mostly of working with small groups and walking around to work with individual students during their more independent work. As assignments for some of my classes, I also made and taught a couple of lesson plans. I was nervous to work with Kindergarten because they are so young, but they absolutely stole my heart! I loved all my students and was glad to build a relationship with each of them. Next semester I will be placed in an older grade and I can’t wait to see how that compares with the younger students.
