Passport Peer Mentor

Jessica Terrones is my peer mentor for the Passport to Success program at NC State University. Due to COVID-19, Jessica and I were not able to hangout as much as we would’ve liked to (NCSU closed its campus), but regardless, I’m grateful to have met her this semester. We met at my very first Passport to Success event which was an orientation for students recently accepted into the program. It was very comforting to meet Jessica and ask her questions about the program. Her calm and gentle personality was very comforting, and I was glad that Jessica was able to answer questions I had about the program.

Jessica and I also both attended the program’s spring kickoff where we got to learn more about each other and meet other passport scholars through team building exercises. After that, we were unable to meet in person anymore, but we were able to attend the Women in Administration event hosted by the College of Education via Zoom. Jessica also reached out to me via email, and it's nice to know that even in these difficult times I have supportive people surrounding me!
