College of Education Ambassadors

"No matter what accomplishments you achieve, somebody helped you."

- Althea Gibson

At the beginning of the Fall semester of my sophomore year (2020), I was selected to serve as a College of Education Student Ambassador. The role of an ambassador is to “serve as a professional liaison for the College with recruitment, campus events and service.” I really enjoyed being an ambassador this past year and speaking with high school students interested in joining the College of Education as well as their parents. It is such a joy to speak with future teachers and students who understand my passion for education. I participated in 4 recruitment events during the Fall semester and 2 recruitment events as well as a recruitment/welcoming video in the Spring. When I was in high school, speaking with a College of Education ambassador helped me make the decision to attend NC State University, and I could not feel more at home here. I hope that I am able to make that same impact on high school students as an ambassador for the College. This role has helped me feel more confident with public speaking (in both small and large groups), and I plan to use the skills I learn now as an ambassador for whichever elementary school I will one day work in (even if it is not a formal position).

I will be using this experience as an engagement event under the Professional Development theme for the Passport to Success program.
